Giuliani was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1944. He graduated from Manhattan College and New York University School of Law. After graduating from law school, Giuliani worked as a prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York. In 1981, he was appointed U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York by President Ronald Reagan.

As U.S. Attorney, Giuliani prosecuted a number of high-profile cases, including the trial of John Gotti, the head of the Gambino crime family. Giuliani's aggressive prosecution of organized crime helped to reduce crime in New York City.

In 1993, Giuliani was elected Mayor of New York City. He served as mayor for three terms, from 1994 to 2001. During his time as mayor, Giuliani oversaw a number of major changes in the city, including the implementation of a zero-tolerance policing policy and the construction of the Freedom Tower.

Giuliani's leadership was tested on September 11, 2001, when the World Trade Center was attacked. Giuliani was praised for his handling of the crisis, and he became a national hero.

After leaving office, Giuliani continued to work in public service. He served as a special advisor to President George W. Bush on counterterrorism. He also founded the Giuliani Partners consulting firm.
